I enjoyed reading this book. Chimamanda in this short story was very comical while maintaining serious enough tones to get thoughts and ideas across. As a Happy African Feminist Who does Not Hate Men and Who Likes to Wear Lip gloss and High Heels for Herself and Not For Men, she presents the idea that I too can also be a feminist, albeit few of those characteristics even apply to me.
It’s definitely an antiquated ideology that men are successful because they are men, but the reverse is not a new idea either.
Feminism isn’t defined as fighting for womens’ rights, but rather the belief that both sexes should have the same rights. funny enough, if men had less rights, then fighting for men’s rights would also be called feminism.. but that is probably a vision saved for another, better day.
